Psalms 113 “Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised…” I guess we should praise the LORD!!!!!! I praise the Lord for Genesis class. It is a module class taught every other year since we have two years combining their classes in the Bible College. I missed teaching it in 2010 because of furlough and so I was able to teach it again this year. This was the first class of the year. It seemed impossible and I didn’t want to teach it with so many other things on my plate. I didn’t have the amount of time I wanted to prepare. I tried to get others to take my place. They were too busy as well. But in the end it was a blessing to see the lights come on as the students learned things from that blessed book. I praise the Lord for Kristen, our short termer. I know next to nothing about reading music or leading a choir. But with Kristen’s help our Bible College choir began with the opening of the school year. We love it! All of us! It is so much fun to hear the students singing the songs that are on their hearts – at the top of their lungs – all over campus. They don’t read music, they don’t have good posture, breath control or relaxation, but they sound REALLY GOOD. With Kristen’s help we are learning something I praise the Lord for the progress in the Bible College Construction. The directors’offices should be almost done today including a mosaic tile installation on the floors (using up the leftovers from the 5 apartments). This is satisfying since I like to see our resources used wisely. I installed the 5 stairs the week before last and put in one division on the second floor and I have some apprentices who have duplicated it in the next apartment. They are doing well. Yesterday was declared a student work day. It was almost a flop as the owner of the property next door refused to allow us to enter our land through his property or the fence between us. This is the only way to get in with the front end loader at this point. But Rachel, my faithful colleague, finagled and then signed a document saying we’d put it back like it was. Today our shipping container is empty, moved to its new place and the sight for our next phase in the construction is clear and leveled. We will begin the building that will house the Campbells, Rachel and Lydia, and contain guest rooms and one for Tim Whatley. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see progress. My pockets and accounts at the mission are more than empty, but I praise the LORD! I praise the Lord that yesterday the property in Paucartambo sold. This was land that was purchased in 1982 by Bob Whatley for ARRIBA and the church planted there. It is an old house (adobe walls more than a yard thick) with many rooms. It was a nightmare since over the years many have lived there who didn’t lead exemplary lives (even a drug dealer). Mr. Whatley helped the church get a new property and they have put up a building. The problem came when we tried to sell it. It was then discovered that when he had bought it, Mr. Whatley’s legal assistant never got the property put into the mission’ name. I made several trips to the equivalent of the title company and to the municipality and held many private meetings with the buyers (8 different parties buying small fractions). Many small portions of the sale price were given and a new document was written up when some more money was raised. Late yesterday afternoon I signed the papers and got ALMOST all the money. We are so close to closing this deal and the good news is that half of the profit from the sale goes to seminary construction. This will be a huge help. So now we can start paying the sizeable debt that we have right now to hardware stores, construction workers, etc, etc. I think we’ll still have funds left over. I praise the Lord for my family’s participation in ministry. I have been nominated the head of the missions committee in our church and last Sunday was our first official Missions conference. Everyone worked together and God blessed. Our family sang a special, “Lord Send Me Anywhere”, by David Livingstone. I read a kids’ story (perfect for adults) about a huge lion attacking him and God greatly using his love for the African people. My prayer is that my children truly can grow in Christ to sing these words from the bottom of their hearts. Sharon continues guiding Kristen in her music involvement and she helps putting skits and programs together for the kids and ladies ministries. In one of these skits Joel and a friend sang their first debut, inviting the ladies to their monthly outreach. It was funny as they sang kind of opera-like, but truly God has gifted him and he loves to sing and participate. Raquel teaches eighteen 3-7 year olds in Sunday School. Marcos is recording the church services for a family that is absent. He is involved in Youth group and helps with the sound system. The younger kids are all singing in kids’ choir and selling cakes on Fridays with the others kids to earn money for the purchase of the church’s new land. All the kids are growing and maturing thanks to Sharon’s dedication to our brood. I began about a month ago to dedicate Monday nights after choir practice to one child. The kids seem to anticipate it. One on one and one by one I have set up tents, played chess, watched movies, read books etc. But, I missed last week with David and will resume this week. I praise the LORD I missed it because of the radio meetings we had Monday through Thursday this week with two servant leaders who came down from Baptist Mid-Missions to help us develop a plan of attack to get out of crisis mode and move into MINISTRY MODE with the radio ministries. VW Peters and Steve Fulks came down, thoroughly investigated and came up with a dramatic plan to move up and out with the radio waves in the ears and hearts of the Peruvian people (see attachment from Brother Peters). In the next six months we will paint and set up an adequate antenna to link our radio to the transmitter on Mount Sacro, we will again set up the satellite dish on our new property to receive BBN broadcasting, we will sell our equipment that is not useable in this plan, and we will make a new, thief proof cabin for our transmitting site on Sacro. We will purchase a brand new, state of the art Short Wave radio that transmits (and doesn’t burn tubes continually), we will get the antennas set up, and I will build the walls and ceiling for the radio studio and transmitting room. In October a work group will come down to put electricity in the studio and cabin and then install all the equipment and get on the air like they haven’t been for years, Lord-willing. The decision making body of the radio approved the plan. We are excited!!! In each praise you can find many prayer requests as well. As you pray remember “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.” Ken for the Lovealls BMM, Urubamba, Perú |
